My convos with Mel a JDub

I've been meeting with Mel, a JDub, every Wednesday on the regular at my local library. I've been having convos with him on religion and a wide range of topics. These convos have given me insight into the mindset of JDubs. Right from the start we laid down our cards and made no bones about our Biblical world views and how they're in stark contrast to one another. At times our exchanges can get intense.


So what do you guys think about these convos with Mel? Please share.

It’s hard to offer a whole lot of feedback while knowing so few details of the convo’s, but I can say this. Your apparent sincere love and care for Mel’s soul is precious, and surely an aroma of Christ!

Your investment in his life, and sowing what I perceive is good seed, will surely not be wasted. May it bear much fruit in Christ Jesus!

As far as fruit is concerned I'd say Mel isn't as adamant as he was that the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society is the only direct line of communication between man and God. He now recognizes that Born Again Christians exist outside of the organization. He knows without a shadow of a doubt that I'm Born Again and a joint heir with Christ. That's a big deal! At one point I told him that theologically we have very little in common that further dialogue would be an exercise in futility since we both hold paradigms that are opposed to one another. He insisted that we continue talking as he put it. So we have. I think our convos intellectually offer him an opportunity to expand his horizons since in the organization higher education is discouraged as a norm. He's constantly picking my brain on a variety of topics and I'm always willing to oblige.

I'm talking about me meeting at my local library every Wednesday and having a convo with Mel on religion and other topics. The convos aren't accessible. I was just wondering what you guys thought about the idea. Personally, I wouldn't encourage other Christians to do this unless they're solid in the Word. Jdubs are masters of deception and biblical sleight of hand. They're inflexible in their doctrinal positions generally. These convos have given me insight into the mindset of Jdubs and the doctrines they hold. It's absolutely crazy what they believe. They're completely under mind control by the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society. It's a sad thing to behold and very disheartening. It's virtually impossible to break the hold the society has on them. Still, I'll continue meeting with Mel on the regular. Please pray for Mel.

Aha, makes more sense now. Just be always ready with an answer for the hope that is within you, but do so in the Holy Spirit’s power, following His lead. When cultists or false teachers come a knockin', it could be an opportunity to relate the truth about Jesus to them, or it could be an opportunity to leave them as they are blind guides. There is probably no religious group that is more faithful than the JW's at getting their message out. Unfortunately, the message is full of distortions, deceptions, and false doctrine. May God open the eyes of these false teachers to the truth of the gospel and the true teaching of God’s Word.

The JW's are captive to spiritual strongholds that render them unable to use critical thinking. They're also captive to imposed phobias by the WatchTower Bible and Tract Society. They're literally under mind control. There is no light in them. So as a Son Of God it's all I can do to get Mel to see things in light of the unexpurgated truth of God's Word. It's real hard because their Bible (New World Translation) has perverted the plain truth of the Word. Nevertheless, I'm not giving up.
