I agree that this is all a distraction from the real TRUTH of our identity in God. The article nonetheless describes the mindset of scores of people who ponder this matter of so-called simulations. I do think that AI will reach the singularity in the near future. I also think that on a spiritual level that the Anti-Christ will make full use of it to beguile the masses of humanity... Perception of reality will undergo a radical change with the technological capability AI will offer those who embrace it wholeheartedly and without any moral or religious reservations. This portends a brave new world where humans linked to AI biologically will render any experience possible with the limbic system going along for the ride. It's a brave new world for sure but its end will not be good.

Hmm, I've been pondering on this lately, especially last night upon watching the videos you posted. However, it stands to reason that a single AI program might be “better” at chess or cooking or even making music. But for AI to be legitimately as smart or smarter than people, a single program would need to excel in all of those things at once. To make an AI better than a human brain, we’d need to fully understand and then surpass ourselves, which is logically contradictory. Not surprisingly, there is already a religion, called Way of the Future, started by a former Google engineer, that plans to worship AI and look to it as mankind’s caretaker and guide. Such futile imaginings are nothing new; humanity has often been guilty of worshiping the work of their own hands. The Way of the Future is just a modern version of carving an idol.

In short, AI might be able to perform certain, limited tasks better than a person can, but there is no logical, philosophical, or biblical reason to think it can be “better” in a meaningful sense. AI might emulate the patterns human beings use when we think, but it can never replace the prowess, dexterity, and creativity of the human mind. Despite fears and speculations, the weight of science, observation, and Scripture refutes the possibility of true artificial intelligence or a technological singularity. In short, the concept of AI makes for entertaining fiction, but not much else.

When AI achieves the singularity and becomes self-aware it will literally have the ability to control everything that is connected in cyberspace. The ubiquity of AI and being self-aware at the singularity will render it the master of all things in this world. I don't share your view that this is all just speculation and sci-fi but a real possibility in the near future.

I see what you're saying now. I wonder if the grid will ever go down. Can you imagine how advanced we will be getting with virtual reality in the future and how much more we will depend on it, and then all of a sudden we lose the ability to generate all these devices because the grid goes out. I picture people exiting their homes and starting to greet each other face to face again starting all over again, rather than meeting on a virtual platform.

In the near future knowledge will increase exponentially....One new technology that'll speed that up is quantum computers. AI and quantum computers will usher in an epoch in human history unlike anything ever seen before. The Tower of Babel is the only thing that even comes close in comparison in its audacity.
