Open carry is a right enjoyed by all American citizens. Or at least it should be. Those restrictions and impediments to it are coming down slowly but surely. This issue isn't one of Whites and other races pitting themselves against Blacks in reaction to fear of them. The perception by some people that Blacks are bad people isn't at play here. This whole matter rests on the right of Americans to open carry freely as free people. It's a matter of principle and legal recognition of those right guaranteed by The United States Constitution.

The Wild West only lasted about 40 years. The westward migration was finally tamed when cities sprung up and civilization took root. Was it a safe time you ask? In the west "law they said is 5 cartridges in the cylinder. Justice is the 1 in the chamber."

Yes. It's a great time to live in. We're living in very momentous times. The future only holds out great hope for believers and those who will serve God out of a heart of love for him.

No I wouldn't aspire to live in the Wild West. I'm used to modernity. It was rough in those days and they didn't have the things we have...No indoor plumbing, no air conditioning. I can also do without frontier justice. I'll take our criminal justice system with all its shortcomings.

There's no evidence of that happening and I don't believe that it will happen. I live in Arizona where open carry is legal and law abiding citizens who open carry here haven't resorted to frontier justice. People open carry here on a daily basis and others conceal carry as well on the regular. Guns are a part of the South Western culture out here and the sight of people who open carry barely get noticed anymore.

Realistically speaking it's not the norm that everyone has a gun in Arizona. The majority of citizens out here don't open carry. I'd say it's probably about 5% who open carry and about 10% that conceal carry...My estimates are inflated but my sense is that it's about right give or take. I think your biggest issue hasn't really materialized in our experience here in Arizona. Maybe it's because of our gun culture and people's familiarity with sidearms and long guns.

If anyone of those present didn't comply or made a furtive movement the cop would be within his rights to shoot in self defense. This hypothetical scenario you describe is thankfully not a common occurrence but rest assured cops are trained to respond to scenarios just like this. Law abiding citizens who open carry know the responsibilities that come when exercising their 2nd Amendment right.

I think you and I have a very different kind of opinion about the abilities of humans to make rational decisions in high-stress situations (especially the police, who have a lot more factors influencing their behavior than we do).
