    Default Forum Rules

All, as of late there have been many posts in the many forum that really should be in other rooms (e.g. Theology, etc.), as well as some questionable language. Please review the forum rules and re-familiarize yourselves with them.

PM what? It's pretty clear that the boards aren't being moderated. The question is WHY.

    Avoiding HCR beefs/arguments 101

    1) Don't feed the flesh- Arguments can good and healthy. And are needed when error is taught or sound doctrine is being attacked. But sometimes we use arguments to feed our flesh. There is a rush, a "high" that we can get from going back and forth with people. Nothing is glorifying to God about that. That's the flesh promoting itself.

    2) You don't need to respond to everything- Working with juvenile offenders, one of the main ways they get into arguments is because they need to defend themselves. It's the same on here.

Do you really need to respond to every post someone says something negative against you? Even if it's an attack on your character? Does every post need a response? And the answer is no!! Again, don't let your flesh lead you. LEARN TO IGNORE! Because once you respond, it's giving that person ammunition to start an argument.

    3) Don't fall for traps Bottom line, some people say things, because they know it will get people in a uproar. On secular boards they are called "shock posters". Once again, learn to ignore. If it's foolish, YOU DON'T HAVE TO RESPOND. Can't have arguments if people don't respond. Along with that, learn to say "no comment". "I'd rather no go into further detail". "Forget it, it's not that important". Because some are setting you up so they can argue with you.

    4) Learn to forgive- Bottom line, some are walking in the sin of unforgiveness. They have unresolved issues with that person. The scriptures are clear, be reconciled. Stop seeking your own vengeance.

I won't be adding it to the rules, as that a decsion that has to be made by the owner/administrators. However that's great advice, well worth a read. Cheers Zema's and Ras!

That's an awesome post Zema. Props to Ras for that. People do get caught up in their feelings on here and end up speaking out of the flesh. I've been guilty of that myself at times. It's nice when you can talk to someone behind the scenes and both parties can admit their part in it all and move on past it. I'm sure some people on here can attest to that happening.

Unfortunately, when I've reached out personally through PM in a very loving, respectful, and kind manner, some still don't respond. What is a person to do? Well, definitely heed the advice above.

I'm definitely not perfect on my walk with Christ and want to continue growing in maturity as the years progress.

God is the only one who can change hearts.

Thanks for the deep insight, Ras.

Sometimes people need time to deal with whatever feelings they may have before they respond to your efforts of reaching out because their response could be out of hurt and they may say something they shouldn't.

You did your part by reaching out. Just keep the situation in prayer and show kindness to the person in your posts which we should do anyway.

Many many years ago when I attended a few secular boards, pride and ego ran extremely rampant to the point where the other person literally wanted to physically hurt the other. On here pride and ego can appear as well, but not at the level I've seen on those boards.

I'm so glad we can have discussions like these here and at least try and deal with each other in a manner that is worthy of the gospel.

Thank you jeyjey34 for your insight as well. God bless you and thank you for being a part of this Christian community where we are more than simply avatar pics on a page.

Or, they didn't get your PM because you're on their ignore list. Fact is, I don't want to see the posts of a member who constantly post articles that falsely accuse Christians, so if I remove them from my ignore list to get the PM, they will be re-added to my ignore list. There's no point in that, right?

God alone is our resource, and all growth comes by grace through Him, but we are responsible to make the choice to do those things that will place us in position to receive that grace. “For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:5-8).

    This is definitely my prayer:
