    Default Avoiding HCR beefs/arguments 101

    1) Don't feed the flesh- Arguments can good and healthy. And are needed when error is taught or sound doctrine is being attacked. But sometimes we use arguments to feed our flesh. There is a rush, a "high" that we can get from going back and forth with people. Nothing is glorifying to God about that. That's the flesh promoting itself.

    2) You don't need to respond to everything- Working with juvenile offenders, one of the main ways they get into arguments is because they need to defend themselves. It's the same on here.

Do you really need to respond to every post someone says something negative against you? Even if it's an attack on your character? Does every post need a response? And the answer is no!! Again, don't let your flesh lead you. LEARN TO IGNORE! Because once you respond, it's giving that person ammunition to start an argument.

    3) Don't fall for traps Bottom line, some people say things, because they know it will get people in a uproar. On secular boards they are called "shock posters". Once again, learn to ignore. If it's foolish, YOU DON'T HAVE TO RESPOND. Can't have arguments if people don't respond. Along with that, learn to say "no comment". "I'd rather no go into further detail". "Forget it, it's not that important". Because some are setting you up so they can argue with you.

    4) Learn to forgive- Bottom line, some are walking in the sin of unforgiveness. They have unresolved issues with that person. The scriptures are clear, be reconciled. Stop seeking your own vengeance.

Not really much you can add to this brilliant post, but if I could say this from a moderation standpoint.

    (1) Be careful with sarcasm. Sarcasm doesn't work well with electronic communication. Sarcasm is just not always easy to detect, and I've seen it become the catalyst for some of the more uglier confrontations on this message board.

    (2) Be gracious. Remember, when you're communicating electronically, you don't have the benefit of facial expressions or body gestures. If someone has said something to you that you find a bit questionable, exercise some grace and approach them (gently) via PM.

    Thanks for the reminder, Ras.

    Lol... good one Ras!

I think it should be noted though that facts do not equal opinions though. My only point is that sometimes we will put ourselves in the "victim" category, but many times, we are the offender. I know this to be true of myself. I think your point #1 indirectly touches on that, because it is the flesh.

You are doing better. Now if this was any other thread, I would have said "you can disagree all you want, but fact is fact, and I have no opinion". Then of course we end up with a 3 page thread, before you say something absurd and childish, then it turns into 6 pages. But this is progress.

    Yo,

I would say I am a number 1,2,3, and 4..... Good post famo. I can't tell yall how many times I've read my own post and said in my mind.... That boi just laid that smack down to that Heretic. Yeah, it can get out of hand....Flesh is a beast. Yeah we stand for Truth but again where is your heart in the issue. I've gotten a lil better but still more growth and sanctification or else I'll be empty handed before the LORD one day....We all have our gifts and others more so than others but we must remember they are gifts.

Not that it's an excuse for people to heretical but if we are looking to Honor the LORD we should honor him with a clear conscience. So though sharp and fierce confrontation of Heretical teaching isn't sinful we need to be careful not to get caught up in the refutation above that of God. It's a balancing act like crazy and takes years (from what I hear from Elders and Wise Men) to get the hang of and then some more learning until you die.

Much needed post of the day.
