My first child....

No, not biological. I don't have any biological children, so I adopt other people's kids.

When I taught high school a few years back, I 'adopted' one of my girls and have been her 'daddy' (in addition to her real father - he's cool) ever since. We haven't been as active in contact since she graduated HS back in 04, but every few months, we call and fuss each other out for not calling sooner.

Well, today I took off from work. My phone rang about 6 times during the course of the day....all calls from her. So I called.

Long story short, in the past few months, she has become rather evil in her actions and intentions toward folks...and herself. I don't even hear the usual 'Jokey Smurf Laugh' that she used to have.

This morning, in tears, she found her way to a local church that was open and someone stopped and prayed with her. She then called me. I spent about 2.5 hours on the phone with her giving her the gospel, walking her through the law, pointing out that 'yes, everyone in the world, on one level or another is capable of going Sung Hui Cho on folks' and so on and so forth.

Being the very intelligent woman she is (she's 20 now, can't call her a kid anymore....), she asked questions as I walked her through the story of David, faith and repentance, Romans 3, Psalm 51, 1 John 1:9-10, Matthew 5, Jeremiah 32:40, the difference between a pastor and a church that simply strokes your ego and never gives you the truth and a church that preaches the truth regardless of how it makes you feel....... and this sunday she'll be in church at the church she stopped to pray at (though she doesn't like the idea that they have so many cameras up). I warned her about certain Christian 'fads' and she, being my child, agrees. She's also anti-"show church", so thankfully, I don't have to explain to her what's wrong with some of them (and there are two big ones in her immediate area....).

I was wondering what church was the most solid in the area, then I remembered CCBOL..... so I may be sending her there.

Folk, this is one of my kids. I've been praying for her for years now and she's really broken up and beat up as of late over how she's been. She's looked at herself in the mirror and she's realized that what she sees isn't good.

In the meantime, I'm soliciting the prayers of you wonderful folks on her behalf. Her name is Q.

Father, your Word says that you wish that NONE should perish, and I intercede on YOUR child's (Q) behalf at this time. As much we think how it's all about us sometimes, and how awesome and special we are, and how much you love us, I know that You love ALL your children the same way! Oh, if she would come and taste and see that You are good! Bless the Lord oh my soul! Thank you Holy Ghost for working within her heart and preparing her day of salvation! :-D Please continue to lead and guide her, and as her friend has ministered to her, to find a great church home, where she can fall in love with You and grow in Your Word and maturity! In Jesus Name I call it done! Amen
