    Default Moving To Memphis

    Hey Fam,

Keep our family in prayer. We are moving to Memphis to be apart of a solid community of believers. We are truly trusting God and being faithful to his Word. There are some things we would like to take care of financially while we are here and my wife is looking for a job where she can show the Supremacy of Christ. She is not just looking for a position to pay bills, but a position in which she can give God Glory. So I just ask that everyone keep us lifted in this job search. Also Please Pray for God's total provision in securing and stabilizing us once we get to Memphis. As our family grows more and more our decisions are based on God's applied biblical truth and this reformation of sorts doesn't always feel or look like we would like it. I just ask that God's Grace be given to us and anybody else involved. I ask you all to pray for the community as well, that God will use us in a way that only he will be shown through us.

I thank my brothers and sister for keeping us lifted. Peace be unto you!

    Ahhh man, you missed it!

God said MARYLAND not MEMPHIS! The state with the high teen birth rate, not the city of loose women!

How could you miss the big neon sign glowing outside your house ?

Well..... I'll pray for you on it.... that you get diverted to I-70 on your way down and magically end up in Frederick, MD.

Are you moving to Memphis because of what Reach (Lecrae, Ben, etc.) is doing in that city?

Only reason why I ask is because I tend to think sometimes that other kats are drawn to Philly just to be closer to the Cross Movement, etc.

    Thats all.
I actually think this is a legitimate question Vic. Until about a month ago I had absolutely no idea or interest in seeking out a biblical community. After going to the Legacy Conference and seeing my wife flourish in just two days of fellowship with sound believers it made me realize we were missing something. I initially brushed it off thinking that the fellowship itself wasnt that important and that we would have to go at it alone.

Well the last day after Paul Washer preached I got kinda convicted about my leadership of the household and what values I placed before my family. In that moment I realized that I needed some discipleship in this area. So God softened my heart and I talked to Lecrae about it and asked him to pray with me. At this time I didnt know exactly what they were doing down in Memphis, I just was seeking prayer. Lecrae began to point how important it is to have a biblical community around from a biblical standpoint and It sparked a minor interest we prayed, exchanged numbers and kept it movin.

Later that night driving to Joliet, my wife talked with me about what had been poured into her during these three days. I was immediately overjoyed to hear my wife speak essential doctrine and understand its importance. The things i poured in over a course of months fully cultivating in three days. It really made me appreciate God, and his word even more to see fruit in my wife.

Then she told me that she dreaded going home due to the lack of this same thought pattern in the believers we know. This crushed me because I didnt think I could do anything about it. But I knew I had to. I had to do something to put my family in a position with other believers that will help us live out our lived fully submitted to the Glory of God.

A few weeks pass. Things constantly showing us that we need to change our living situation. I call up BJ in Memphis and we chop it up, by then time we get done speaking we got plans to be in Memphis that weekend.

We get there and I got poured into immensely. I mean I never knew how off I really was. I have absolutely no accountability here, and I have no one to challenge my actions to see if they line up with scripture. So going amongst believers where transparency is a must it is a complete culture shock, but in a good way.

It wasnt until the night before we left that we started to talk ministry work. Until then it was about personal growth as a leader and a husband and father for me. But that night we got to pray about some things going on in the community and the work that needs to be done. Then did I see a purpose ministry while in Memphis. The ministry was the last thing we actually ever talked about.

Now if you have read so far, you will see that I transitioned from My wife and family growing, to me growing. Why is that? Because when confronted with truth from the brethren I saw I wasn't as "good" of a Christian I thought I was. My silent haughtiness from watching all the heresy up here has crippled my growth. (thinking im ok) So one thing God showed me was that I wasn't finished yet.

So with a tremendous amount of prayer (thats another growth story) and God completely changing my direction to seeking a biblical community, I feel as though he has led us to Memphis. He definitely desires for us to be apart of a biblical community.

Honestly man, My desires weren't to seek this out 2 months ago. I am comfortable here. I work a a great company. On paper Im good. I can sit back and stack and wont blink. But God has called us to do something with our lives. Its just how obedient we are to the scriptures, especially if we believe the bible presents absolute truth.

Chad, I feel you man. No doubt.

That is one thing I really pray for in the Baltimore are. Good, sound fellowship. We have some folks here like: Derek (Redeemed), who's been a great influence, Kerry, B. Morr, myself, Emerson and our contingent of DC folks, including the "sistas" and of course, Jason.

But, right now, we don't have a serious fellowship going. But, that will soon change as we get some things lined up.

Man, I'm happy to hear about your wife's growth and your own understanding of what you need to do as husband and father.

I'll definitely keep you lifted up,fam. Much love to you.

    Chad,

I thank God that you are being led to Memphis. I know a few weeks ago on Face book, I wrote on your wall that I thought that may be the best place for you. I'm glad you got a chance to build with them before you made the decision. I'll keep you in prayer.

You still need to move to MD. You and your wife would fit in perfect at Derek's church.

j/k. Man, I'm overjoyed at your testimony up here, man. I might have to quote you a few times, if you don't mind. The part that really jumped out in my mind while reading was this:

Later that night driving to Joliet, my wife talked with me about what had been poured into her during these three days. I was immediately overjoyed to hear my wife speak essential doctrine and understand its importance. The things i poured in over a course of months fully cultivating in three days. A while back in one of Jason's other threads, I posted that I wouldn't recommend folk to certain churches and that if you're reformed, you need to be in a consistently reformed atmosphere where the implications of the doctrines of grace are lived out daily and not just talked about. The very things you noticed after being in a solid atmosphere for a while are the very things that I know folk don't get floating around non-reformed churches.

    Man.....

You got me over here tearin' up for you and your family.
