This happened at my job, and I'm asking y'all for prayers to stop being overly irate, and lumping all police in the same category, but the honest truth is I have a tremendously strong dislike for them. I just thought the folks around the world should know about this scandalous act. The attempted coverup was extremely pathetic also. This is a hot topic out here in Northern Cali. Please keep his family in prayer, and his baby daughter, who will never see him again on this earth. I think they are in good hands with the attorney who is on the case. He represented my family and won when the Oakland Police shot my cousin in the back, killing him as well.

Unbelievable. I am praying for his family and friends. I can't imagine the pain they must be going through right now. The officer who shot him needs to be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

My cousin was shot in the back and killed by an officer, the case wasn't really clear because all they had was the word of the officer. From my knowledge he was reassigned, and treated as this guy was, and put on paid administrative leave, after commiting murder. Crazy how that is, if I even shoot someone that breaks into my house, I can be sent to jail. Not given time to wait for an investigation and get paid.

well, i feel your pain... some police shootings are justified... but when it's a backshot... it's seems to not be the case (unless of course your cuz was pointing a gun at somebody else).

anyway, this video is pretty clearly a murder by the cop

but let's all be cautious to not lump all cop shootings into the same category

A friend of mine I played ball with in High School was killed on Thanksgiving by a cop. The story is still under investigation. Keep in mind the cop just got off for shooting someone else earlier that month.

This video is terrible. Goes to show whats going on when people abuse authority.

At my job, New Years Eve is one of the rowdiest days besides, Haloween and Gay bi tri quad sexual pride day. There was a fight between 2 groups on the train reported at the West Oakland station, Two stations later about 5 miles away the police arrive and try to break up the fight. They subdue most of those they allege to be involved with plastic ties, one of those who wasn't subdued is threatened puts his arms up as is seen on the tapes trying to surrender saying please dont shoot me or tazer me I have a 4 year old daughter at home. The officers wrestle him down, manhandle him, then the COWARD pulls out his gun, while he had 4 others in the area to assist, while 2 other officers were standing there looks at the man, and Blam!! shoots him in the back, while he was face down and determined to be unarmed. The bullet went through his back and ricocheted off the concrete back into his body , and struck his lung. What kills me is how nonchalant the other officers are when they heard that shot. SMH. They confiscated several phones where people were videotaping, and Praise God, the didn't take them all. They really tried to spin this in the mendia, but now they don't have a choice. I pray justice is served, because we don't need a Rodney King type of situation here with people rioting and stuff.

I feel you with that Un. I'm trying to keep it together, I just want to be right with this, I'm trying to have a biblical perspective on this when talking to others about it, but I can't front I haven't been a good model. Pray for ya boy y'all in that area. I see these police at work everyday, and I cant even look at them, and I know thats wrong.

Thanks for the explanation. This is crazy when I think that this could easily have been me or someone that I know. It is crazy to know that a officer can just murder someone so freely...this bothers me so much. I am just thinking about his mother who has to bury her son and her daughter who will grow up never seeing her daddy again. This is horrible...

They don't know if he was involved in a fight. No one that they apprehended was arrested they were all released there at the station as he would have been if he wasnt killed.
And if he was in a fight you don't know the circumstances. So you shouldn't speculate that. Witnesses said he was a peacemaker trying to calm people in his party down. If you see the video before he was shot he clearly had his hands in the air, and eyewitnesses said he was screaming at them not to shoot him because he had a daughter.

That seems to be a lie, and a cop out by the BART police department, they have stated they havent even interviewed the man in the 6 days since.:swoon: Cops have been on the news saying they usually interview a person within the first 12 hours. If they could cover it up they would.(Thank God for the video phone!)First they said his gun "discharged"(whatever that means), then they said they had no tape in the camera at the station. Now they say they have tape but the tape isn't clear. Give me a break.
The tasers are kept opposite the strong hand side and the .40 caliber pistol on their strong side. It's a lie. Even if it was true, why would you try to pull out a taser when 3 men subdued the victim, and he was on his stomach? :mad:This is one of the most bizzare things I've ever seen in my whole life. It is the talk of the Bay Area right now. My sister in Southern Cali said she saw it on CNN, so at least its garnering National attention. I think it deserves it for the sake of justice, and his family and daughter.

Phil he didn't resist no arrest. he eevn told them don't shoot me ,dont taze me while sitting don't with his hands up. Impossible to resist on your face and your hands behind your back.

It was never said he himself was involved in the fight, but investigating who were. He had his hands up and submitted.

they did the same thing to me in 95. Got on my knees, hands behind my head and surrendered then they beat the messed up me with steel baton. Broke my arms and threw me on rikers.
Did i mentioned I did nothing? Drug raid at the wrong appartment which they never bothered ro raid later after beating us and causing my friend to loose in one eye til this day. . SMH

they might have a serious case with the taser/gun mistake. I don't think anyone would intentionally kill someone like that with so many people watching.

the rodney king cops didn't know that they were on video.

with that said, i do not trust police officers. I got pulled over last night and I was honestly terrified when they asked me if i had any drugs in the car.

Sorry to hear that. I woke up this morning feeling different about it, and I am praying for justice and the cop's salvation. But when I got to work, thats all everyone talking about, and I still am not over my bad feelings. I just sent Al Sharpton an email. I hope he can help. Everyone keeps talking about Rodney King, and how they had videotape and all. I just hope it doesn't get to that level.

Tasers do have triggers on them, and can be lethal at point blank range. There was nothing that could be perceived as funny about your question. No prob.

CBS5 has the video up as well for those who can't see the KTVU site. Seems like their servers are getting hammered. NOTE: the raw footage has a lot of cussing in it and may be graphic for some.

http://cbs5.com/local/oakland.BART.shooting.2.901215.html

I do believe the officer made a sincere mistake. You can see it in his face right after he fired his weapon. But unfortunately for him, the guy died and now the officer may face murder charges.

I don't buy the possible 'he may have mistaken the gun for a taser' story. Even if it was a mistake, there was no need for it anyways. The police had numbers, the guy was cooperating/pleading not to be tasered, unarmed, with two officers on him. The video looks like strong evidence in favor of the victim. If the officer gets away with this, there will be a public uproar for sure.

The officer resigned
http://www.ktvu.com/news/18426590/detail.html#-
After the police took 7 days to interview him instead of a typical 12 hours, he lawyered up and quit. So who knows when we will understand why he did what he did.
The community is in an uproar.

man i just saw the video; man i dont know what to say. i know the guy in the vid said he was going for a taser gun but even than why would that be necessary for an unarmed suspect on the ground with 3 cops on him. I really feel bad for dude's family. I know cats are gonna bring up his criminal past but at the point of his death dude was unarmed and i'm pretty sure the cop didn't know his past at that time.
