I know lust is something most men struggle with but do we all? If not, then what else is there?

I know this is my major area of struggle but is for you men?
Lets discuss.

i know i'm not a man ... but something interesting came to mind when you wrote that.

yes, lust is a problem. whenever you hear of someone going through "struggles," it almost always comes down to lust of some kind.

but what came to mind is this. as human beings, we're living so far outside of the way we were intended to live. for instance, many of us, if properly raised in truly Christian households, properly taught from the jump how to be wives and husbands, and offered the maturity that comes with all that ... most of us would be married already and thriving in a relatively functional marriage. in such a circumstance, ideally, sexual "needs" would be met already. and "lust" may be less of an issue.

sure, we're desperately sinful creatures, but i think part of this issue is the dysfunction mankind has sunk into generation after generation that makes it so that (1) people see sexual urges not as a signal that finding a life partner is imminent but that it's time to sow oats, (2) folks aren't raised to be biblical Christians from the jump which would intill a sense of spiritual maturity that would prepare a person for marriage at a younger age, and (3) folks aren't being raised to be biblical wives and husbands earlier in life than 27 or so which makes them have to hold off on natural urges that much longer.

I think the biggest temptation is pride. I think you see more people deal with issues of pride then they do lust. But, lust is a big one, too. That's my condensed answer for now, as I am logging off my computer and leaving work for the day. :D :D

I'd have to say pride like expo, but I also think of how the bible says "the love of money is the root of all evil" Man that's heavy temptation.

Thanks for your imput eve! That is the real truth.

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 1 John 2:16

These are things we all deal with it's not gender specific when you look at physical temptation as just an extention or branch of the "lust of the flesh" which is basically our desire to please our natural urges. I often tell my youth that if hitting yourself in the head with a hammer provided the same gratification as sex then lowes and not pornography would be the multi-billion dollar business instead of the multi-million dollar business that it is. The lust one feels towards a woman that is not his wife, is the same lust a man who is in sexual perversion might feel towards another man. He is lustful and seeks to fufill the lust of his flesh what his flesh prefers is the subjective thing. So pride is not greater but equal to lust because it is one of the defining characteristics of the world which does not disqualify women. It's a worldwide struggle to combat the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.

To me, I look around and see Pride as the root to a lot of the other problems. Society has corrupted itself and we often take pride in sin. The other sins become something to boast about.

I wonder if i would be wrong in stating that it is a big problem for people raised in a sexually charged culture...a culture that teaches people to lust from a young age.

I ask that because I wonder if the amish struggle like the modern christian man does.

Their women dress modestly...and i doubt that they have billboards in their towns with scantily clad women posing.

i also agree that lust is a major issue that men and women go through, pride can also be a big contributer. I never would have realized it before that pride is a Huge factor in all of it, but it is.

I believe all sins fall into these three categories:

1 John 2:16
For all that is in the world, (1) the lust of the flesh, and (2) the lust of the eyes, and (3) the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

So I'd say yes, lust is a HUGE issue for both men and women. But in Christ we already have the victory so as we continue to strive to walk in the Spirit it will become less and less of an issue, we will die to the flesh and allow Christ to reign in our lives. Lust and Pride are selfish, when we fall to these vices we put ourselves above God - which is exactly what Lucifer did.

There is a way out, and it is through the blood of Jesus. HALLELUJAH! :D

I've struggled with lust and pride a lot in my life, but God has time and time again rescued me from the pits of hell and restored me. It is still a battle, but God has equipped us with everything we need to persevere and endure every temptation that comes our way.
