Okay, I've done this a few times and then just forgotten about it. I'm feeling very convicted to make a concerted effort to obey the following command of God:

"Be remembering (persistently, consistently) the prisoners as having been imprisoned with [them], the ones having been ill-treated, as also being in [the] body yourselves." Hebrews 13:3

May God help me (and us) to keep lifting up our suffering brethren in prayer and doing whatever we can to help them otherwise...

We shouldn't belittle our own trials, a trial is a trial, no matter how small or big it may seem. But when we keep considering and praying for our brothers and sisters who are being seriously persecuted, I think it does help to make us less self-centred and also helps us to have the right mindset toward our own situations.

Muslim extremists in West Java attempted to murder a Christian lecturer in mid-October for converting from Islam three years ago. The lecturer at various theological schools, whose name was withheld for security reasons, has taken shelter in another province to escape further threats to his life. Sources told Compass that in September a man claiming to be a Christian phoned the lecturer saying he wanted to study Islam in order to relate to his Muslim acquaintances. Several meetings followed in early October between the lecturer, the caller and several of the caller’s friends... Uzbekistan Government "Attacking" Evangelical Christians; Churches
Evangelical Christians in Uzbekistan faced another tense day Wednesday, December 6, amid an ongoing media campaign against them, police raids in churches and reports that Bibles and other literature are burnt by authorities. "Today I write to ask that you pray for the whole nation of Uzbekistan. The Uzbek TV has been airing shows about Christians that are very distressing," an Uzbek believer said in a letter obtained by BosNewsLife. "The Christian churches have been likened to terrorist groups and the country is being warned about these "dangerous people"... Despite the pressure, Christians in Uzbekistan say believers continue to meet including 18 leaders from "cell churches" across the country. "They would like to form a group so they are accountable to one another, to help one another stay away from heretical teachings, to teach each other how to be better leaders...," the Uzbek Christian said in her letter.

Cuba: Prosecutor Recommends Acquittal of Church Leader
A prosecuting attorney in Havana on Monday (December 4) recommended that the Rev. Carlos Lamelas be acquitted of all charges of trafficking in illegal emigrants. Those accusations had sent the evangelical pastor and former national president of his church to jail for more than four months earlier this year. Despite the motion for acquittal, Lamelas’s future still remains in doubt. “The trial is now at the stage of determining sentence, and we must await the judges’ decision,” Lamelas said. “The worst part is that we have to keep waiting possibly for one or two months more.” Arrested in a surprise police raid on his Havana home the morning of February 20, Lamelas was unexpectedly released from the Villa Marita Detention Center on June 26... He credits international attention on his case, expressed through hundreds of letter from fellow Christians from around the world, for securing his unexpected release.

China: Christian Lawyer Convicted of "Inciting Subversion'
A Beijing court convicted human rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng of “inciting subversion” on Tuesday (December 12) after he mysteriously entered a “guilty” plea, according to reports. Advocacy group Human Rights in China and sources cited by Asia News questioned the sincerity of the guilty plea, as Gao’s family and attorney were not informed that he had been put on trial until the proceedings were over. The trial at Beijing’s No. 1 People’s Intermediate Court lasted less than a day. Asia News reported that lawyers hired by Gao’s family said the conviction was based on his guilty plea, but that they were doubtful of its credibility as they were not allowed to meet with him.

Appeal Upheld For Australia Pastors Accused Of "Vilifying Muslims"
Two Christian pastors, who had been found guilty in Australia's Victoria State of "vilifying Muslims", have had a ruling in their favor Thursday, December 14, from the Court of Appeal. Three judges of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Victoria set aside the orders given by a judge at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal last year against Pastor Danny Nalliah, Pastor Daniel Scot and Catch the Fire Ministries. "These orders had required them to publish a statement acknowledging their guilt and undertaking to refrain from making similar comments about Muslims and Islam again," said Barnabas Fund, a major religious rights group. "This statement was required to be printed in the form of several large advertisements in newspapers and on Catch the Fire’s website and in its newsletter."

Cuba Court Drops Charges Against Pastor; Concerns Remain
A Cuban Court has dropped charges against a Protestant pastor who went on trial this month for alleged involvement in "human trafficking", but the church leader cautioned he may still be prosecuted in the near future, activists told BosNewsLife Thursday, December 14. Pastor Carlos Lamelas was informed by his lawyer on Wednesday, December 13, that he had been absolved by the court, said UK-based religious liberty group Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), which supported the church leader... Yet in a statement released by CSW and obtained by BosNewsLife Pastor Lamelas said he fears Cuban authorities "are still looking for a way to punish" him. His lawyer has reportedly advised him that he may still be given a fine for the "falsification of documents."

India: Hindu Extremists in India Beat Christian Couple, Pastor
Hindu extremists launched two known attacks against Christians this week, beating a couple in the northern state of Haryana yesterday and assaulting pastor in the central state of Chhattisgarh on Sunday (December 17). About 50 Bajrang Dal extremists attacked the Christian couple, Rakesh Sen and Suman Sen, at about 8 a.m. yesterday at their home in Lakarpur, Faridabad district, Haryana. The attackers were upset at the couple for regularly allowing their New Life Fellowship church to meet in their home for Sunday worship...
In Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, a group of about 50 extremists from the Dharam Raksha Sena (DRS or Army for Religious Protection) beat an independent pastor on Sunday (December 17) and accused him of forced conversions.

China Security Forces Raid Home of House Church Missionary; Church Leaders Kidnapped
Chinese police and an angry mob raided the home of a key house church missionary in Beijing and detained about a dozen believers after beating them and destroying furniture, family and investigators said Thursday, December 21... The seven men and one woman from east China's Zhejiang province were arrested after about 3,000 Christians in Xiaoshan, a prospering commercial suburb of the provincial capital Hangzhou, demonstrated against the demolition of the church in July. Xiaoshan is home to tens of thousands of Protestant Christians, many of them traders or farmers wary of state control, church observers said. In recent years, they have apparently struggled with the government over approval to build their own churches.

India: Islamic Extremist Threatens Christian Convert
A caller identifying himself as an Islamic terrorist has threatened to kill a Christian convert from Islam in the southern state of Kerala. Pastor Paul Ciniraj Mohammed, head of Salem Voice Ministries (SVM) in Kottayam district, has already survived one suspected murder attempt. The extremist phoned Ciniraj on Thursday (December 14) and told him to “start counting your days, as we will kill you in a few days’ time.” “He spoke to me in a very loud voice and said he was from an Islamist terrorist group,” Ciniraj told Compass. Ciniraj took the threat seriously because the caller also mentioned Bashir Tantray, a 50-year-old engineer and volunteer with several Christian organizations who was killed, reportedly by Islamic militants, on a busy road in Barmullah district in the troubled state of Jammu and Kashmir on November 21.

Vietnam Security Forces Attack Massive Prayer Meetings in Central Highlands; Dozens Injured
Vietnamese security forces raided several prayer meetings of Montagnard Christians in the Central Highlands injuring dozens of believers, and at least one Montagnard Christian was fighting for his life Friday, January 5, following torture in prison, representatives said. Sudan Christians Fear New Attacks As Bombings Continue
Sudan's embattled Christian minority attended church services Sunday, January, 21, as the predominantly Muslim nation plunged further into renewed civil war, despite a peace agreement brokered by US Governor Bill Richardson and others this month. Government aircraft reportedly bombed wide areas of northern Darfur, just days after Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir vowed to adhere to the cease-fire. The latest violence added to concerns among Sudan's minority Christians, who have also been attacked by Sudanese security forces, churches and missionaries said. http://www.worthynews.com/christian/sudan-christians-fear-new-attacks-as-bombings-continue/

Ethiopia Christian Killed, Houses Burned, Investigators Say
Groups of Ethiopian Christians were reportedly still hiding in churches Thursday, January 18, after one believer was killed, Christian homes burned and several believers were threatened with execution for converting from Islam. Tensions this year began January 5 when Christian Ajja Delge was killed by an unknown person in the town of Kofele... His family reportedly believes that he was killed by a Muslim militant as the Kofele area is dominated by Muslims, but there was no claim of responsibility. Local Christians have said they fears local police will not conduct a proper investigation into Delge's murder. Shortly after the murder, homes of three Christian families were burned January 8 by Muslim militants in the village of Begge... Tareku Meres, Jemal Tasesa and Tamene Gemechu and their families are currently taking shelter at a local gospel church, the group added. "At last report, the police have not investigated the incident or taken any action to bring the arsonists to justice." http://www.worthynews.com/christian/ethiopia-christian-killed-houses-burned-investigators-say/

With the situation in Somalia also getting tense, the saints (and non-saints) in East Africa are in desperate need of our prayers.

India Militants Attack Missionaries, Throw Teenager From TrainLess than two weeks after their activists reportedly threw a Hindu convert to Christianity from a train, Hindu groups attacked Christian missionaries in India accusing them of "religious conversion," BosNewsLife monitored Monday, January 22. New Delhi-based news agency Asian News International (ANI) said about 30 militants of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) group and its youth-wing Bajrang Dal disrupted an evangelistic meeting Sunday, January 21, in the town of Chakeri in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. About 100 participants were expelled from the hall where they were gathering, ANI reported. "We came to know that in Richa guesthouse, some Christian missionaries were holding discourses on religious conversion. We would not have allowed that to happen. If they try to conduct such meetings again in future, we will give them a fitting reply and will take to the streets," VHP activist Sunil Singh was quoted. as saying. http://www.worthynews.com/christian/india-militants-attack-missionaries-throw-teenager-from-train/

Praise report but prayer still needed:
Pakistan: Court Overturns Life Sentence for Christian, another ‘blasphemy’ suspect, Shahid Masih, is freed on bail.A Pakistani court last week acquitted a Christian “blasphemy” prisoner on grounds that the convict was mentally unstable, while another Christian facing the same accusation was released on bail. Justice Muhammad Ijaz Chaudhry overturned Shahbaz Masih’s life sentence at a Lahore High Court hearing on Friday (January 19), citing evidence that the Christian was mentally handicapped. He has been incarcerated for more than five years...Threats from radical groups have forced Masih’s family into hiding several times during the case. More than 60 armed Muslim clerics were present at the Christian’s final Faisalabad court hearing in 2004, chanting slogans and praising the judge and Islamic law when he was found guilty. Sindhu remains uncertain whether Masih will eventually be reunited with his parents and five siblings in Lahore. The Catholic lawyer said he hoped his client would be able to obtain refugee status abroad.

Another Christian in Faisalabad went into hiding last week while awaiting a court decision over accusations that he defiled the Quran. Faisalabad Judge Muhammad Tanveer Akbar granted Shahid Masih bail, saying that evidence against him was only “circumstantial,” said Sindhu, who is also defending this “blasphemy” suspect... Shahid Masih is one of only a few Pakistani Christian blasphemy suspects to obtain post-arrest bail from a lower court. Most blasphemy prisoners spend years in prison before an Additional District and Sessions Judge decides their fate...
The blasphemy suspect’s mother has suffered from depression since her son’s arrest last September. “I am very sick, but I am happy to see my son,” Alice Masih told Compass from an undisclosed location in Faisalabad where she and her husband were visiting Shahid Masih. Due to his own work with blasphemy prisoners, much of it pro bono, Sindhu and his family have faced ongoing threats. The lawyer’s wife and sons have temporarily gone into hiding to avoid attack.

Last month State Minister Tariq Azim hinted that “minorities would hear the ‘good news’ of amendments to the blasphemy law this Christmas,” the English-language Daily Times reported on December 25. Concrete amendments have yet to materialize." http://www.worthynews.com/christian/pakistan-court-overturns-life-sentence-for-christian/

still praying famo for the body as a whole.

2 Peter 3

1This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, 2that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, 3knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. 4They will say, "Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation." 5For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, 6and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. 7But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

8But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you,[a] not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 10But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies[b] will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.[c]

11Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! 13But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

14Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. 15And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, 16as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. 17You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
