I'm almost 100% sure if you don't co-habitate with a woman who is a big reader you surely know one who is. For as long as I can remember, even back in elementary school, I've known ladies who read all they can. They swallow novel after novel and are ever-enthusiastic about picking up a new one. Many of the books in the personal libraries of ladies are erotic stories. I have heard these books referred to as "Literary Erotica". I happen to know women whose personal book collection contains nearly 90% of these type of books. This made me start to wonder...

I opened up one of these books during a visit one day. I read a portion and found that the sex scene being described was extremely detailed. Down to the letter. I then asked myself, "How is this different from watching a dirty movie"? Men are more stimulated by what we see and are likely to watch pornographic content or obtain adult pictures. But many women agree that female stimulation is as much or mental then physical. Most adult films have a plot and a story that unfolds, though the majority of the the film is sex acts being performed. Erotic books are very similiar in the fact that they have a plot and a story that unfolds, but much time is devoted to describing graphic sex. If a man was busted by his wife watching a pornographic film, he is likely headed for the doghouse or "no house". Yet women indulge in the fantasy provided by books and novels any and everywhere, free of accountability. If it is wrong to watch immoral acts, is it not also wrong to entertain yourself with reading about them?

Could erotic books simply be an erotic movie on pages instead of on screen?

Totally agree, they are one in the same, both perverted. I was in Borders one day and these middle school aged girls were squirming around looking for for Zane's latest chronicles, and I couldn't believe it. They were like "oh, girl I got this one at home......" and all the while I am thinking "where are your parents at?" Books NEED to be rating just like movies are rated, and children should not be able to buy these books, or read this books at library's without an adult permission. Zane's books need to be rated "R".

yes they are, back when i subscribed to mens health magazine, they had an article saying basically that "romance" novels are womens porn. supposedly some women are turned off by the grotesque nature of porno flicks, but are enticed by the wording of the novels. basically it went on to say men are into what they see, where as women are into what they hear/read. i have some coworkers who love those nasty little books. and get mad when i say that they are reading sex books

I have read them before, I was just thinking about why I stopped... I just lost interest. BUt I was wanting to make sure I clarify that just like you have hardcore and soft on film. It's the same with the books. The ones classified and "romance" are considered the soft and there are some that are just whoa...my sister(rip) let me read one once(i was only like 14) and I was like eww. After I read it I was straight up scared of men for like 5 years. I was like, how can a woman read that and not be disgusted....but then I discovered the "romance" ones. The "acts" are the same basically, but the plots can be romanced to the point that the reader gets the impression that its lovely or just like they want their life to be...but it's the same...i basically lost interest after I got married:D ...didn't need books. I can only remember one story out of the ones I ever read. It was lame and I would never want to live that way now(old west)now that I think about it...but they romantized that plot so much...I dont know if anyone said it or not, but woman live in their minds alot(generally)...did i make sense..lol...i wrote this fast...i will edit later...
